I’m soooo tired of having problems down there!

I have now had BV several times aswel as an ongoing problem with cystitis and Thrush.

It seems to be that if i get cystitis then I am guaranteed thrush afterwards every single time.

why is this happening?!

Antbiotics cause thrush. Go to the chemist for some Ural to help with the cystitis.

I have had two treatments for thrush and neither have worked, do i need to go back to the doctors? Also i remember when i first went to the about it she said that after so many treatments they would do tests to see why it is not going away, does anyone know how many treatments are needed??
I haven’t been reinfected by my partner as everytime we have sex we use condoms, and he hasn’t got it anyway as he was tested too when i realised i had it.
I have been using the medicines that are supposed to solve the internal problem, i have used the pessaries and the capsules but neither have worked
I had one lot of meication prescribed by a doctor and another prescribed by a hospital

I once had a severe case, so they gave me stronger treatment. It took 2 weeks but it went away eventually. Maybe your immune system is low?

You can also re-infect yourself from your partner everytime you have sex if he doesn’t get treated as well. He might not show symptoms but he will give the infection back to you.

Hope this helped! xx

I have had the oral tablets and the pessaries and neither have worked, they were both prescribed from the doctor
My partner hasn’t got it as when i first realised that’s what i had, he was tested too, so i can’t be getting it back off him even if he did, as we use condoms.
I have tried natural yoghurt too, it didn’t work.
my opinion is i have either got one hell of a thrush infection or it is something else altogether, despite what the swabs say.

You know, I had this problem and even ended up treating my boyfriend (the oral tablet, of course! ha!). In the end, it turned out to be activation of the nerve rather than any kind of thrush or whatever.

So, definitely get back to the GP and see what she says. They’ll just test it and find out rather fast. It’s one of the most common reasons women see GP’s so don’t worry about it.

Thanks!

Whoever just answered first is a stupid imature child, she said oral thrush.
You get it on your tongue and it can basically start out as a little ulcer, so get your facts right.
Anyone can get it and it is painful.
Lets hope you get it all over your face because some stupid little jumped up madam who isn’t even old enough to answer a question respectfully deserves to get something like that.

Go and take your sarcastic messed up head somewhere else.

And to answer your question go to your doctor and I found that nystatin worked really well for me, its a type of anti fungal treatment and took mine away in less than a week. hope I helped. Good luck

ive just been to the pharmacy for some treatment for thrush, i have had this before an was prescribed with the canestan pessary. i had tried the cream but it didnt do much. i found the pessary worked a lot more at that time. so again i have bought the pessary. is this a lot better then the cream?

It’s not necessarily better than the cream, just works better for you.

they fitted me the copper coil about a month ago…but a week ago i got a chest infection so was put on anti-biotics…now i have symptoms of thrush…i was wondering if it was still ok to use the canestan pessary if i have the coil fitted?

Yes that’s fine Julia, no problem at all. It’s probably best to try a topical Canesten preparation that you can apply directly onto your vagina in addition to the pessary, this will relieve the itching almost instantly.

If you don’t want to use a pessary, you can always take Fluconazole which is an oral anti-yeast preparation. It’s just a one off tablet.

The antibiotics were probably unnecessary to begin with. 85% of chesty episodes are the result of viral infections and will therefore not respond to antibiotics. Unfortunately up to 70% of Doctors ignore current NICE guidelines which clearly go against the routine prescribing of antibiotics in such instances.

i have been taking acidophilus for the past 4 days and have seen no results?
when should it take effect?
or should i go to a different treatment?

The best treatment is with live bacteria in a powder form, acidophilus of lactobacillus, which means that it must be refrigerated. In Australia, I have only been able to purchase this from a Naturopath. And it works for mouth, throat or genital thrush. I take half a teaspoon 20 minutes before eating once a day, and it works in a couple of days. Other non-refrigerated forms, tablet or powder or liquid or in yoghurt, did not work for me.

If that still does not work, I have just tried colloidal silver and it works beautifully. Two capfuls in a day and the thrush was gone (make sure you hold it under your tongue for as long as possible). However, it MAY also reduce or eliminate the good bacteria, so follow up with the acidopholous or lactobacillus as above.

If the thrush is genital and you have irritated skin on the outside, Thuja cream (health store) also works well.

Is there some kind of test that docs do to see if you have thrush, or can they tell by looking?
Is thrush a hard thing to treat, or will it respond quickly to antifungals?

It is easily diagnosed. You will see a filmy whitish or yellowish covering on your tongue and through-out your mouth.. It can also be anyplace else in your mouth. The mouth becomes very sore.
An oral mycostatin is used to treat. A dentist or Dr. can prescribe it. You swish and swallow 3-4 times a day.
Thrush can be very stubborn.
You might also want to start eating yogurt as it helps with any fungus naturally

Like at coles or woolworths ?
And does cranberry juice really work?

Just go to your local chemist they will be able to help you out! Another good thing that does help is natural yogurt! Trust me this does work i used it myself and it worked wonders!
