Hey I’m looking for something oral I can take for my vaginal thrush to help me get better from the inside out. Can anyone recommend anything that would help, I definitely want to go down the natural route….
Thanks in advance folks!

Three-Lac is fantastic. Look on amazon.com. It’s kind of expensive ($49 for a 1 month supply) but it really works. Google it. :)

Hi. I’ve been using a thrush treatment (Canesten 6-day) for the past 2 days, and I have only felt immediate relief, but not full.

How long does it take for thrush treatments to start working fully, and help make the symptoms clear up? It’s painful, and the worst thing ever to have, and I’d love to know when it’ll actually start working and clearing it up. Thanks in advance.

when i had thrush i started using the creams and bodywash stuff for it and after 4-5 days it was pretty much cleared up. make sure you are regulary showering and changing your underwear otherwise it will keep getting worse instead of better i had to buy underwear with the most amount of cotton in them so it didnt sweat and itch and spread. good luck hope this helps a little.
p.s wash hands all the time you dont want to spread it to your mouth so not a good idea.

and what are the symptoms, just for me to be sure. I am 15 too, so can you give me the cost of these in Australia. Also does it cost to see gynecolist or whatever lol.

I live in the US, so sorry I can’t give you information for Australia. But I can give you some information that may be helpful. Thrush is basically a yeast infection and since you asked about a gynecologist, I assume you have it in your lower region. You can also get it in your mouth as well. Gross, but true. Symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection are itching, burning, soreness and a white cottage cheese like discharge. It can be brought on by an excessive growth of yeast in the vagina, taking antibiotics, certain medications, douching, hygiene sprays and an infected partner can give it you via sex.

A yeast infection is easily treated, there are over the counter creams you can get at your drug store like Monistat – but creams are messy. The best thing is to see your doctor and get a yeast pill called diflucan, but it’s really up to your doctor how they decide to treat it. Most would rather prescribe a vaginal suppository or cream. Treatment is usually for about a week. Keep in mind a yeast infection will not just go away, it gets worse and becomes unbearable. Best to see your doctor and make sure that you actually have a yeast infection and it’s not something else enitrely. Your general practitioner can easily treat you for this, it doesn’t have to be a gyno. Hope you feel better!

It It save for an 11 year old to use thrush treatment, which would be the best to buy? Also just got her first period yesterday, could this be the cause of her itching. I should know this myself, but I just cant remember what It was like for me.

Thanks very much.
Diamond girl, thanks for answerering but I think you need to do some research on thrush. Babies also get thrush??

You should take your daughter to the doctor so that you can get the exact diagnosis here. There are medications available for thrush, but a prescription is required – and even moreso, because of your daughter’s age.

I have been battling a case of thrush for a lil over a week now I just bought some gentian violet from walgreens going to start treatment tonight the bottle says 1% solution 9% alcohol is that the right kind of gentian violet it is made by a company called De La Cruz it was in the aisle at walgreens with all the spanish herbal medications. I just want to make sure the 9% alcohol is going to be safe to use in baby’s mouth, Thanks

try a 0.25 – 0.5 percent solution of gentian violet applied to your nipples twice a day for three days. Gentian violet is effective, but messy. Also, apply a small amount once a day to baby’s mouth, but be aware that overuse of gentian violet may irritate the sensitive oral mucus membranes of baby’s mouth. Apply Vaseline to baby’s lips before using the gentian violet to avoid purple stains. (this came straight from Dr. Sears) – I would still speak to your ped, but Dr. Sears has been a must have opinion for over a decade – check this out, it has some other Thrush Treatments as well http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/t083100.asp

Ok so I was having a mild bout of thrush. It wasn’t painful..or really irritating. I just knew it was thrush and went to get it treated. Only since starting the treatment it’s actually getting worse and not better. Is this normal?
I went to see the doctor and he gave me the pessaries and cream. But since using them (yesterday) it’s got worse. My thrush was really mild before I just knew it was there. Now it feels worse.

The cure (pessaries I presume?) really can be as painful as a bad bout of thrush.
If the pain (and the thrush) do not cease within 3 days though – go and see a doctor.

Does thrush go away on it’s own when I take away the cause(strong antibiotics) or once it’s there does it have to be treated with something from the pharmacy. I take acidophhilus supplements, eating good diet, keep clean, cotton underwear etc. Is this enough for it to go away.

I’ve had thrush before because I was on several strong antibiotics. Tell your doc and he gives you a prescription, it’s nasty kind of like Pepto Bismal but you swish it around in your mouth then swallow. I also treated it with Listerene…nasty as well but you don’t have to swallow.

my little girl(4month old) has oral thrush Iwould like to know which is better treatment is it nystatin or dactazole in addition to doctor recommonds

#1 Genetian violet is NOT a "natural" treatment it is a chemical derrived from coal tar. If you want a natural treatment use Grapefruit Seed Extract. I can send dosing information if you are interested.

#2 Nystatin is very high in sugar which the yeast feeds on. Also there have been reports of yeast becoming resistant to it.

using canesten cream that is inserted into the vagina with an applicator, it says on the pack that the cream would reduce the effectiveness of condoms or contraceptions.

my question is, how long should it be until one can have sex without worrying about falling pregnant after inserting the cream?

Wait until you are completely finished with the treatment for the yeast infection. You don’t want to risk making it worse, and it can be passed on to the guy without a condom. Go without the sex for the week or so, better to be safe.
