Only if your dr prescribed it. You will need an antibotic to get ride of thrush. You and the baby will need to be treated as either one of you could be the carrier. Check with your baby’s dr or your obyn. They can get you the right stuff to help. good luck

like at coles or woolworths?
and does cranberry juice really work?
is that a joke?

Hmmm…depends on what you are considering thrush. Thrush is normally found in the mouth/tongue area – a yeast/candida (fungus) overgrowth in the body. Too much yeast in the body can show up many ways and thrush is one of them. I’d try some Acidophilus capsules…open one up and put it in some warm water…(in case it may dissolve – but i don’t think it will) and stir it a bit in the water. Then take a mouthful of water and swish it around in your mouth for as long as you can, then spit out. Keep doing it till the water is gone. Acidophilus is found at health food stores…also look in the tea isle and look for an herb called Pau d’arco…another herb that helps yeast. You can drink the tea a couple times daily and also use the cooled tea to swish in your mouth. The ’swishing’ with Acidophilus or Tea should be done at least 2-3 times per day. I’d also take some Acidophilus capsules daily…2 per day.

That yogurt Activia is good to eat as well as a food/drink called Kefir..has similar nutrients as the Acidophilus (probiotics) Stay away from sugar and yeasty foods too. Can’t hurt to read up on the subject! :o )

I am currently using tuttles foulex treatment it works good but I am sure that there is better stuff out there

Personally…I like 10% iodine that I get from my vet.

I clean the hoof as good as possible. With water and a brush to get all debris out. I then spray the iodine onto the sole and the frog. Making sure it covers everything. I keep it off the coronet band…it will dry it out. A couple of drops or overspray isn’t really a problem…but I would NOT cover it.

It will sting and the horse usually ’stomps’ their feet after a few seconds. So, if you spray with the iodine…put the foot down immediately so the horse won’t hurt you accidentally. Mine only stomp a couple of times…and then they are back to normal.

This treatment has only had to be done NO MORE than 2 times. I spray one day…and you don’t have to cover it or anything. Then clean the foot again the second day and reapply. The iodine kills the bacteria on contact. Most of the time…one application is all I’ve ever needed.

You can get 4% or 7% iodine from a feed store. It works too…but may take more than 2 applications.

The stuff you get from a regular store is like 1 or 2%. Totally a waste of money for this problem.

I suffer from thrush every month and it is too expensive for me to buy canasten duo every month and the doctor will only give me a pessary do you know where I can buy it in a multipack or cheaply?

Hi, Im a pharmacy dispenser, your gp should really be looking at the reason you get thrush, not just treating it. Its not nice having it every month, so insist on some swabs being taken for further investigations.

In the meantime, you can buy the fluconazole tablet for about £4.99 over the counter. You can also get cheaper versions of the canesten cream if you use that, I know Morrisons do one for £1.99.

You cant buy it in multipacks in the UK, and any pharmacy should hopefully not sell you more than one lot of treatment at a time. They should refer you back to your gp as I have, it needs investigating further, so go back and insist on some tests.

I’m buying over the counter med for thrush at the pharmacy…just need to know how much it will cost for 1 treatment, thanks!
Jen, sorry I wasn’t clear. I had the impression that "thrush" was another word for "yeast infection" lol. What I meant was yeast infection (not of the mouth, but vagina). I’m very uncomfortable down there.

Thanks for your advice, I will check with the doc if the infection worsens after treatment!

I don’t think there is an over-the-counter treatment for thrush! And please don’t try to use Monistat!!!! That is only for vaginal yeast infections. Thrush is an oral yeast infection that is very difficult to cure. It requires a specially formulated rinse solution that will have to be prescribed by your Dr. Please, though, again, DON’T try to use Monistat. It will not work and you will most certainly regret it the minute you put it in your mouth!! YUUUUUCK!
